My New Favorite Blog

Susan Barclay-Nichols writes Point of Interest . This is a fantastic blog for those of us who want a deeper understanding of the products we use. I have been very excited to make my own lotions, soaps and soon shampoo/conditioner, and I am endlessly curious about the science behind the processes. Susan does an amazing job detailing the properties of ingredients bringing me right back to high school science classes.

 I should note that instead of using the lanterns as demonstrated in the tutorial, I used the plastic ornament balls one can find at Michael's. They were only $1.59 and have a loop to hang with on top. I had fun playing with the fabric circle sizes. If you use smaller circles, you get a super concentrated ball of fabric. The larger circles make a ball that is more wavy and flowy.
